Vanessa Perry

About me

Vanessa Perry is a fiction writer- fantasy and dark fiction- who is also studying English. She loves learning and wants to foster a love for learning in others, too. She believes that knowledge is meant to be shared and strives to make what she has to say as accessible as possible.

She makes her home in South Carolina (even if she's forever dreaming of colder climates) with her husband, son, and two spoiled hellhounds.

Fiction Writer | English Major

Writer of fantasy, dark fiction, and poetry. English major.

Workshops/Classes

You don't need a degree to love literature and/or writing. Or to be good at either.

Still, I have found that many book-lovers and writers also love to learn.

It is my goal to explore literature and writing alongside others, make learning as accessible as I can, and have fun in the process.

1:1 Mentorship

For those who want 1:1 tutoring, I offer mentorship sessions to scholars and creatives alike.

Currently, I mentor in executive functioning (organization, focus, etc) and writing and research (academic and creative).

You've got questions. I've got answers.

Are you open for lectures?

Possibly! Please email me at vanessa@vpwrites.com to inquire.

When are your books releasing?

In Roaring She Shall Rise, a pirate fantasy, is set to release Spring 2026! It's the first of a trilogy and I hope to release its sequels not long after.

Betwixt & Between will be releasing late 2026 or early 2027. Its also the first of a series, Beyond the Holler. More info will be shared mid 2026.

What kind of tutoring do you offer?

I currently offer 1:1 mentorship sessions that cover executive functioning, writing, and research for scholars and creatives.

Sessions are 1 hour long.

Do you offer services for fiction writers?

It depends.

If you need help with executive functioning (organization, focus, etc), research (how and what to include in your story), or things such as narrative voice you might find what you need in a mentorship session.

If you are looking for courses to enrich your writing, check out upcoming courses.

I currently do not do editing nor do I do any kind of mentorship/coaching outside some very specific, niche things. However, I might be able to recommend someone. Just email me. :)
